What exactly is KY Duration? KY Duration Spray is a product from the makers of KY jelly, a ‘personal lubricant’ that many people have probably already heard of. K-Y Jelly is a water-based, water-soluble personal lubricant, most commonly used as a lubricant for sexual intercourse. A variety of different products and formulas are produced under the K-Y banner.
K-Y Duration Spray, on the other hand – according to the company, is a ‘Male Genital Desensitizer Spray’, which acts to numb the penis and reduce sensation. The manufacturer states that KY Duration is an ‘endurance enhancer’ which temporarily prolongs the time until ejaculation to help you have more control and “stay in the moment”. The active ingredient in KY Duration Spray is Lidocaine USP (9.6%) – which is a numbing agent, for topical use on the skin.
Who makes KY Duration Spray?
The K-Y brand has been around for many years, and many people have likely heard of their personal lubricant, called K-Y Jelly. The KY brand is owned by a company called Reckitt Benckiser, which most people have probably not heard of. Reckitt Benckiser Group (plc) is a British multinational consumer goods company headquartered in Slough, England. It is a producer of health, hygiene and home products. They are also the company that makes Durex condoms.
KY Duration uses Lidocaine to help “numb” and desensitize the penis. What is Lidocaine you ask? Lidocaine is a local anesthetic (numbing medication) also known as Xylocaine and Lignocaine. Lidocaine is a medication used to numb tissue in a specific area. It works by blocking nerve signals in your body. Lidocaine topical jelly or ointment is used on different parts of the body to cause numbness or loss of feeling for patients having certain medical procedures.
It is also used to relieve pain and itching caused by conditions such as sunburn or other minor burns, insect bites or stings, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, minor cuts, or scratches. Lidocaine viscous topical solution is also used to treat sore mouth or throat and also reduce gagging during the taking of X-ray pictures and dental impressions.
How does KY Duration Spray help premature ejaculation?
KY Duration Spray, like many other similar products – is intended to ‘numb’ the penis and make it less sensitive during intercourse. The reduced sensation on the penile tissue works to reduce the pleasure and sensation, and help men last longer during intercourse.
